One Company Multiple Database vs Multi Company vs One Database

Version 9.8 introduces the idea of a true multi-tenant database system. This allows customers with multiple databases to choose between the previous configuration of one company - one database or one company -multiple databases.

The question is, how do you choose?

Do the separate companies act like wholly owned subsidiaries? Normally, these are independent companies that have their profits rolled up into the parent company. They don’t interact with the other companies or divisions within the parent company. In this situation, it is best to stick to the previous model of one company - one database.

On the other hand, if the companies cooperate, share resources, and operate more like divisions in the same company, one company - multiple databases will make more sense. This will allow mechanics/technicians with specialties to be shared across sites seamlessly. Managers can check each other’s inventory to share parts for urgent repairs. Regional managers can seamlessly log into different databases to check on the status of each location.
